Native to the rocky slopes and alpine meadows of the Himalayas, from Pakistan to Yunnan, at altitudes of approximately 3,000 to 5,000 meters.
The species is distinguished by its creeping stolons which allow it to form mats of silvery rosettes, densely covered with silky hairs.
The flowers, bright pink with a yellow eye then red with age, are gathered in umbels of 5 to 15 flowers borne on stems 5 to 15 cm tall. Blooming from May to July.
Well-drained substrate, sunny exposure.
