Native to the alpine meadows and rocky slopes of Yunnan, Sichuan, and eastern Himalaya, at approximately 3,000 to 4,500 meters.

Distinguished by its oblong-lanceolate leaves covered with appressed stiff hairs giving it a characteristic striated appearance — hence the name strigillosa , « slightly striated ».

Forms loose non-stoloniferous rosettes. The flowers are a delicate lilac pink with a yellow eye, borne in umbels on stems 5 to 15 cm tall.

Blooms from June to August. Cultivation in very well-drained substrate, semi-shaded exposure.
