Aquilegia secundiflora
Aquilegia secundiflora
Little-known Iberian columbine, whose taxonomic status remains uncertain — the RHS itself describes it as « unresolved ». It is said to be endemic to the Iberian Peninsula, mainly the Pyrenees and northern Spain. Its name refers to the unilateral arrangement of its flowers along the stem.
The photo presented here, attributed to it without total certainty, shows flowers of a deep purple-violet with well-marked spurs, characteristic of the genus.
